Rob Thomas Embarks on Solo Tour in April

Matchbox Twenty

Rob Thomas has just announced a month-long North American special headline run kicking off on April 2nd in Temecula, California at Pechanga Theatre.

After that, Thomas’ tour will hit a number of major markets, including Las Vegas, San Diego, Austin, Nashville, Atlanta, Hollywood, Florida, among other places, before wrapping up on May 11th in Windsor, Ontario.

He has also announced that his show on April 5th at Indio, CA’s Fantasy Springs Resort will benefit Sidewalk Angels Foundation, the non-profit organization founded by Rob and his wife Marisol Thomas.

The Sidewalk Angels Foundation behaves like an umbrella organization that provides funds and resources to small local and regional entities that are doing vital work. In the words of an official press statement, “The world can move so fast that those in need are often passed by. From animals that have been abandoned and abused to those who are destitute, homeless, or cannot afford proper medical care – these are universal problems that Sidewalk Angels Foundation, through its efforts, encourages people to address locally.”

Thomas’ musical resume is pretty impressive. As well as the Songwriters Hall of Fame presenting him  with its first ever “Starlight Award” — created to recognize a songwriter in the early years of his or her career that has already made a lasting impact, he has also won numerous BMI and ASCAP Awards, and has earned the Songwriter of the Year crown from both Billboard and BMI, two years in a row.

Rob Thomas and his Matchbox Twenty bandmates recently finished up their hugely successful sold-out world tour in support of their No. 1 selling album NORTH. A critical and commercial hit with singles, “She’s So Mean,” “Overjoyed” and “Our Song”, the album marked the band’s first-ever chart topping effort and  No. 1 debut. In the meantime, Thomas is currently at work on his third solo album, according to a press release.
