Frequently Asked Questions
What songs will Steve Miller Band play in concert?
Steve Miller Band have quite a universally appealing discography of tunes dating back to the late 60’s and their debut Children of the Future. The group has quite a few things going on with their even-handed and concrete setlist that stays the same each evening for their recent dates.
The first notable thing to mention is that the Steve Miller Band plays almost nothing from anything they put out past 1985. One of their most recent songs performed on this tour is the pop-friendly jam, “Abracadabra,” from the record of the same name released in 1982.
The vast majority of the setlist is confined to a handful of material released 1976-1978. Long time fans will recognize this period as their prime, specifically 1976’s Fly Like an Eagle and 1977’s Book of Dreams. These two records make up well over half the setlist, and they include some of the group’s most boundary-breaking and historic material. This includes “Fly Like an Eagle” as well as “Take the Money and Run” which both appear early in the set. There is also “Rock N’ Me” and “Jet Airliner” from this era as well. These are all chart topping smash classics from the 70’s.
The group has the odd distinction of having their most popular song on a record that was not quite as popular as a whole. 1972’s The Joker had a number of decent songs that did not necessarily stand the test of time, aside from the title track, “The Joker” which is performed towards the end of the set. It is the only song from the album that is consistently performed.
For the most part, the Steve Miller Band sticks close to their big hits and stays away from new material or deeper album cuts. This includes a single song from the group’s latest album, Let Your Hair Down, or 2010’s Bingo which was recorded in conjunction.

Steve Miller Band has enough material to play a straight 24 hours, but they keep the shows at a more realistic and perfectly acceptable 80 minutes.
Who is also playing with Steve Miller Band?
Steve Miller band does not bring out a full two hour or longer setlist because of their co-headlining status alongside 80’s arena rock pioneers, Journey. The most recent is 2011’s Eclipse, preceded by the more popular Revelation.

Concert Reviews
“Using songs from “The Joker,” as the centerpiece of a nearly two-hour set, the Steve Miller Band thrilled the crowd at the Koussevitzky Music Shed at Tanglewood on Monday night. The band offered up six songs from the seminal release as part of a 22-song set, using the title track as the closing song of the night, stretching the refrain and repeating it to the delight of a nostalgic-frenzied crowd.” – Donnie Moorhouse of MassLive
“If Miller proudly displayed his blues roots, his set nodded to R&B in a major way, especially when the spotlight swung to singer Sonny Charles, who not only delivered All Your Love and Further On Up the Road, but Jessie Hill’s classic Ooh Poo Pah Doo.” – Curtis Schieber of the Dispatch
“There were some hilarious moments induced by Miller’s interaction with the crowd between songs, and when he called on his personal banker to play pedal steel guitar on one song. The man’s corporate look had the audience in splits, even though he did just fine on his instrument. Miller’s three solo acoustic tunes in the middle of the set were highlights.” – Andrew Bansal of GuitarWorld
