Gary Clark Jr. Tour
Gary Clark Jr. is an American guitarist and actor from Austin, Texas. Born on February 15, 1984, he has famously shared the stage with the who’s who of Rock and Roll. He has confessed to being influenced by blues, jazz, soul and country as also hip hop. He is known for his vocals in guitar.
Gary Clark Jr. started playing guitar when he was only twelve and performed in small shows. That went on till he met promoter Clifford Antone, owner of the Austin music club Antone’s. That meeting took him to heights of fame soon enough and he began to play with musical icons, such as Jimmie Vaughan.
Clark has the distinction of performing at the 2010 Crossroads Guitar Festival with the likes of B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Steve Winwood, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, Jeff Beck, and ZZ Top. He has also shared the stage with Doyle Bramhall II and Sheryl Crow for their performance with Eric Clapton.
Gary was declared the “Best Young Gun” by Rolling Stone in their April 2011, “Best of Rock” issue. Clark sang on the bonus track cover of I Want You Back by the Jackson 5 on Sheryl Crow ‘s album 100 Miles from Memphis.
Clark made his movie debut in the 2007 film Honeydripper in which he starred along with Danny Glover, Stacy Keach, and Charles Dutton. When Gary was all but seventeen, the then Mayor of Austin Kirk Watson honoured Gary’s achievements by declaring May 3, 2001 to be Gary Clark Jr. Day. Clark also won the Austin Music Award for Best Blues and Electric Guitarist thrice and won eight awards in the 31st annual Austin Music Awards for 2012-2013.
