Frequently Asked Questions
What songs will Miley Cyrus play in concert?
Miley Cyrus has four albums of material to pull from, dating back to her debut effort which came in the form of the Hannah Montana soundtrack, to her last pop collection, Bangerz. But Cyrus is in an interesting place, because she has gone through so many transformations over the course of her eight year career. Because of this, her most recent shows tend to be very focused on her later material. For tonal consistency, it makes more sense for her to really dive deep into her rebellious and disco-influenced anthems on Bangerz. This is why “Adore You” is a concert staple, with its pulsating and rhythmic drawl. Pure pop smash hit, “We Can’t Stop,” works perfectly alongside other Bangerz tunes like “Get it Right,” “Do My Thang,” and electronic ballad “My Darlin.”
Of course, her breakout single “Wrecking Ball” appears towards the end of the show. It is a perfectly encapsulated pop smash, having torn through the charts and vaulted over other pop hits of 2013, including Katy Perry’s own, “Dark Horse” and Lady Gaga’s slightly under the radar hit, “Applause.”
She does toss in some other hits from her previous records, including the title track from her 2010 record, Can’t Be Tamed, and the song “23.” Miley Cyrus closes nearly every set with an extended version of her initial Hannah Montana inspired hit, “Party in the USA.” As confetti rains down and sparks go off, the crowd amps up to a feverous pitch. The following is a fair sampling of common songs that fit their way into Miley’s setlist night after night.

I heard Miley Cyrus likes to dust off a few covers?
Miley Cyrus regularly explores the idea of playing a few covers at her shows. The 2014 Bangerz Tour includes the early millennial groundbreaking pop/rap crossover, “Hey Ya!,” from the Atlanta duo Outkast. The song is an appropriate choice, for Big Boi and Andre 3000 are largely credited with breaking new ground by mashing hip-hop with pop- a strategy that Cyrus herself explores throughout her latest record, particularly in her Britney Spears collaboration, “SMS (Bangerz).”
Miley reaches a bit back further in the musical catalog to pull out the disco inspired cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” It is an intriguing choice that may leave a few younger and older listeners alike scratching their head.
How long is a Miley Cyrus concert?
Miley Cyrus is confirmed to play a minimum of 90 minutes per evening, but she’s been clocking in closer to two hours on most stops along the Bangerz tour. Miley Cyrus herself has said that she will extend the acoustic section of the show based on how she feels the crowd is receiving it. Though she is contracted to do 90 minutes, between song chatter, extended acoustic sets, and wardrobe changes have extended the time frequently.
I’ve heard the Bangerz tour has been plagued by controversy. Should I worry about taking my daughter to this show?
It depends. If you are going into the concert expecting the wholesome, G-rated Hannah Montana show from Miley’s early days, you are in for a shock. She has shed the skin of her Disney alter ego and has embraced her budding sexuality much in the same way Britney Spears did at that critical juncture of her career. It seems to be a crossroads every female teen star hits, for better or worse. Miley is exploring this new identity, and it can be shocking at times to those who knew her in that earlier life. After the twerking upheaval at the VMAs, most people should know what to expect from Cyrus. At the end of the day, its up to you to decide what is appropriate for your daughter and her level of maturity.
How do I get access to presale tickets for Miley Cyrus’ tour?
Miley Cyrus had a variety of ticket presales for the Bangerz tour. There is an AMEX, LiveNation & Facebook presale in most markets. More information on the LiveNation presale can be gotten from downloading their iPhone app. You can access the Facebook presale by RSVPing on LiveNation’s Facebook Page. Finally, Miley’s American Express presale is open to all AMEX cardholders, but you must checkout with the card to take advantage of this offer.
Is Miley Cyrus singing live?
Surprisingly, yes. Britney Spears was known to sing alongside a backing track, but her intense dancing choreography essentially forced her to give up the mic. Because Miley Cyrus lacks that, she is able to really flex her singing might. A few background tracks pop up here and there, but she remains rather focused on letting her lungs prop her up onstage.
Who are the supporting acts on the 2014 tour?
Uprising female pop stars Sky Ferreria and Icona Pop are opening the show on almost every date of the 2014 Bangerz tour. Ferreira recently released her own rebellious debut album, Night Time, My Time. Ferreira is a bit of a controversial icon herself, perfectly fitting into the rambunctious sexuality of Cyrus’ own show. Her debut record features the singer naked in a shower, looking cold and depressed. The imagery is quite vivid.
Icona Pop explores the more electronic side of pop music. Icona Pop is actually a duo – the pairing of singer Caroline Hjelt and DJ Aino Jawo. It makes for a nice counter to the rebellious dance-pop assault brought by the other two acts.
Who is Miley Cyrus’ Publicist and Press Contact?
Miley Cyrus’ publicist and press contact for the Bangerz tour are Meghan Prophet of PMK*BNC and Jamie Abzug with RCA Records. Her current manager is Larry Rudolph of Larry Rudolph Management/Reign Deer Entertainment.
Concert Reviews
“This weird and wonderful acid trip of a concert documents the adventures of a girl that took a walk on the wild side and — much like the characters in Harmony Korine‘s mind-bending movie — decided to stay. Simply because it’s a lot more fun.” – Mike Wass of the Idolater
“You had to compartmentalize, because when Cyrus opened her mouth for a gorgeous cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness,” backed by acoustic guitars and upright bass, and stormed through her monster ballad, “Wrecking Ball,” it was close to magical.” – Melissa Ruggieri of Access Atlanta
“Most famous for her role as Hannah Montana in the Disney show of the same name, the fans that turned out at Rod Laver Arena were definitely hoping to see the girl they’ve grown up with. However they may have been disappointed, because this concert was definitely all about Miley and not about Hannah.” – Julia Foskey of The Hot Hits
