Usher, the recording artist, actor and dancer was born in Dallas, Texas on October 14, 1978. During the late 1990s Usher rose to fame after “My Way,” his second album, was released. The set spawned “Nice and Slow,” his first number one hit on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Usher’s followup set, “8701,” was released in 2001 and produced No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits “U Got It Bad” and “U Remind Me.” Each album sold more than 8 million worldwide copies and established Usher as one of the 1990’s top selling R&B artists.
Usher released “Confessions” in 2004. The set has sold more than ten million U.S. copies and 20 million worldwide copies. The set spawned four number one hit singles in a row on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Usher released “Here I Stand” in 2008. The album has sold 5 million worldwide copies” and “Love In This Club,” the lead single peaked in the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
The sixth album of Usher’s was released in March 2010. “Raymond v. Raymond” was his third album in a row to debut in the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s 200 chart. “OMG” became Usher’s ninth No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
Usher has sold more than 65 million worldwide albums. He has won five Grammys along with numerous other awards. Usher is one of the top selling artists in the history of American music, with more than 23 million U.S. copies sold.
