Rumors Link Eric Church with Kenny Chesney for 2013 Tour
Eric Church will be taking some time off from touring in 2013, but it appears he might still have some exciting news up his sleeve. Rumors are now rampant that Church will head out on the road with Kenny Chesney next year.
Though Church hasn’t released any official word on the news, he did mention the possibility recently on a radio program.
“It’s still rumor stage, but I can at least say most of next year off is true,” Church said on Florida radio station WKIS. “We’re doing some shows in Canada first part of the year, but as far as the U.S. goes, I think it’s looking like we maybe do 20 shows across the country. We’re going to try and focus on, from a songwriting standpoint and a record standpoint, where we go next and where we go from here. Regardless of what happens with touring with anybody else, we’re going to be taking most of the year off.”
I suppose that means no extensive tour like Chesney’s recent “Brothers of the Sun” tour with Tim McGraw. Church will wrap up his current “Blood, Sweat & Beers” tour late next month, and recently told Billboard that he wants to focus on songwriting.
“I want to see if I can write some songs and see where we can go, musically,” he told the magazine. “I’m looking forward to that. I really want to see where this thing goes.”
Earlier this month, Church earned the most nominations of any artist for this year’s annual CMA awards with five. His hit “Springsteen” was nominated for Single of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year. He is also nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for his third album, Chief. He did not, however, get a nod for the coveted Entertainer of the Year spot, which included nominations for country’s elite Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean.
