Beck, Kendrick Lamar, Neutral Milk Hotel Head Pitchfork Fest 2014

Kendrick Lamar at SXSW

Against the age-old tradition of festival lineups including Outkast, the 2014 bill for Pitchfork Music Fest 2014 has just been announced, and the duo don’t make one appearance on the list.

Kendrick Lamar, Beck and a reunited Neutral Milk Hotel are set to headline the no-doubt achingly trendy festival, which will take place over three days in Chicago’s Union Park from Friday, July 18th through Sunday, July 20th.

The lineup is also set to showcase a DJ set from Giorgio Moroder, and performances from Grimes, Pusha T, Kathleen Hanna’s the Julie Ruin, Sun Kil Moon and Tune-Yards. There is also a reunion from 90s shoegaze outfit Slowdive, as well as a performance from DIIV.

Thus far, it’s quite a little lineup. Here is how it maps out by day:

Friday:
Beck
Giorgio Moroder
Sun Kil Moon
Factory Floor
Death Grips
The Haxan Cloak
Sharon Van Etten

Saturday:
Neutral Milk Hotel
tUnE-yArDs
Mas Ysa
Pusha T
The Range
DIIV
Ka
Circulatory System
The Julie Ruin

Sunday:
Kendrick Lamar
Grimes
Slowdive
Wild Beasts

Hipster heroes Neutral Milk Hotel have a pretty insane touring schedule throughout August, though the band have hinted this could be fans’ last chance to see them perform live for some time.

Lamar and Grimes both made appearances at the festival back in 2012, and have secured much bigger slots at this year’s festival on the Sunday.

According to the Pitchfork website, the announced lineup only represents half of the confirmed acts for 2014’s shindig, with the rest expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

We give this lineup 8.6/10.0. Well played, Pitchfork, well played.
